The resort rests on an 18 acre site of unspoilt natural beauty boasting a vast range of native and exotic flora and mature trees that create a distinctive aurora of peace and tranquillity. Long before the resort property existed, this gorgeous beachfront land was protected for 60 years ensuring the native plant species flourished that are still in abundance today. With the addition of some exotic blooms to complement the existing landscape the Vijitt Resort Phuket boasts gardens with a beautiful mix of trees, scrubs, grasses, flowers and fruit trees that can all be discovered on an enchanting botanical walk.
Meander through the heavenly gardens and discover 24 varieties of flora lining the pathways that wind through the resort. The unmistakable fragrance of Frangipani, flavoursome Mangos and the sweet smell of Orange Jasmine that is extracted for perfumes are all wonderful species that can be found alongside Foxtail Palm, Star Gooseberry and Lemongrass, a distinctive plant with many uses from herbal drinks and classic Thai dishes to spa treatments. Embark on a botanical journey with our knowledgeable guides and enjoy the heady aromas and tranquil atmosphere of our unique resort biosphere.
Natural Rubber Tapping
Thailand is currently the world's largest latex producer and whilst travelling around Phuket you can easily pass by acres of land dedicated to rubber tree farming. The tall slim trees that grow up to 24 metres are of great importance to the local economy but as Phuket develops, many farms are being sacrificed for commercialisation. However at the Vijitt Resort Phuket the rubber tree plantation remains as part of our environmental programme.
The Para rubber tree [Hevea brasiliensis] thrives in a tropical frost-free environment and produces a sap like extract which is collected and used in the production of a wide range of goods from disposable gloves to specialist mattresses. By joining our rubber tapping experience you can experience an age-old tradition practiced by Southern Thais that still remains a vital source of income today. This activity allows guests to experience local culture in a hands-on practical way and also make a contribution to the local economy as all proceeds from the rubber tapping is donated to local community projects.
